Job summary

Observable Space, a high-growth space-technology company, is seeking a Corporate Controller in Los Angeles to lead the accounting function, own the close, and build scalable systems and controls.

The role requires 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including controller-level leadership, and manufacturing or hardware accounting know-how. Expect hands-on ERP implementation and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

• CPA required; public accounting background preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting experience including a controller-level leadership role.
• Manufacturing or hardware accounting experience (inventory, standard costing, BOMs, WIP).
• Experience leading audit readiness and ASC 606 revenue recognition.
• Hands-on ERP implementation experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Own monthly and quarterly close and consolidation under US GAAP.
• Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing accounting team.
• Lead external audits and manage relationships with auditors and tax advisors.
• Own tax compliance across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
• Lead ERP implementation and end-to-end configuration of GL, AP, AR, Inventory, and reporting structures.
• Establish and maintain internal controls and scalable accounting processes.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives like Travel & Expense rollout, payroll automation, and cost accounting improvements.
• Partner with FP&A, operations, and leadership to align finance with the business.
