Job summary

Thomas Foods International, USA is seeking a Corporate Controller to lead accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and governance. Reporting to the CFO, you’ll partner with executives to drive process improvements, strengthen controls, and provide insights that support strategic decisions.

You will oversee the accounting team, manage close cycles, ensure GAAP compliance, coordinate audits, and optimize ERP systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
• CPA strongly preferred.
• CMA, CGMA, CIA, or other relevant certifications preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive accounting and financial management experience.
• 4+ years of experience serving as a Corporate Controller, Assistant Controller, or in a comparable senior accounting leadership role.
• Experience utilizing enterprise ERP systems; NetSuite preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and accounting best practices.
• Strong understanding of internal controls, financial compliance, risk management, and audit processes.
• Advanced financial analysis, forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning capabilities.
• Demonstrates strong verbal, written, and presentation communication skills, delivering clear, professional, and audience-appropriate messages that foster alignment, engagement, and effective decision-making across teams and stakeholders.
• Applies critical thinking and creative problem-solving skills to identify challenges, evaluate options, and implement effective solutions in a timely manner.
• Collaborates effectively within cross-functional teams, contributing positively to a shared work environment while remaining open to feedback and diverse perspectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and financial reporting.
• Produce timely, accurate, and insightful financial, operational, and analytical reports for executive leadership and business stakeholders.
• Manage and lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes, ensuring timely completion of all closing activities, reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting requirements.
• Perform and review financial statement and variance analysis, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities to support informed business decisions.
• Prepare, review, and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports in accordance with GAAP.
• Ensure account reconciliations are completed accurately and on schedule, and that all journal entries are properly reviewed, approved, supported, and documented.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, ensuring assets are appropriately capitalized, tracked, and depreciated in accordance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Direct the annual audit process and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory agencies.
• Ensure compliance with all federal, state, local, and corporate reporting, tax, and financial regulations while maintaining a strong internal control environment.
• Analyze financial performance, cash flow, working capital, and key business metrics, providing recommendations to improve profitability and operational effectiveness.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team by providing coaching, performance management, development opportunities, and succession planning. Manage departmental workflow, workload balancing, and responsibility allocation to ensure operational effectiveness.
• Drive process improvements, automation initiatives, and system enhancements to increase efficiency, scalability, accuracy, and financial transparency.
• Oversee the effective utilization and optimization of ERP and financial systems to ensure data integrity, operational effectiveness, and reporting capabilities.
• Provide oversight and governance of payroll processes to ensure accuracy, compliance, timely processing, and appropriate internal controls.
• Serve as a strategic business partner to senior leadership by providing financial insights and recommendations that support organizational growth and business objectives.
