Job summary

Southern States Cooperative seeks a Controller to lead financial functions, establishing an internal controls framework and an accounting department. You will oversee month-end closes, present financials to the board, and manage the balance sheet with an emphasis on accuracy and efficiency.

You will coordinate audits, support budgeting/forecasting, create dashboards for department heads, and partner with HR on payroll and benefits impacts. Office-based role with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or Other Required.
• 5-10 years in an accounting leadership role.
• Cooperative or Agriculture experience is preferred, but not required.
• CPA not required.
• Job functions are performed in an office environment.

Responsibilities

• Review established infrastructure to identify areas of improvement and opportunity.
• Oversee the month end close process and produce monthly financials.
• Attend board meetings, presenting the financials in a digestible manner.
• Manage the balance sheet, making upper management aware of any potential issues.
• Coordinate external audits and work with outside CPA on taxes.
• Budgeting and Forecasting.
