Career Movement in Charlotte, NC is seeking a hands-on controller to own the accounting function as the business scales. You will run the monthly close, report on project profitability, lead a small accounting team, and help migrate to a new project management platform.

This role is a clear leadership path to head of the department, requiring strong GAAP knowledge and the ability to explain variances to executives.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 5+ years managing people.
• Hands-on WIP, job costing and cost-to-complete experience.
• Experience closing the books and presenting results at a business of $100M+ in revenue.
• Strong GAAP knowledge and the ability to explain variances to executives.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business.
• Comfort with a mid-market accounting system and advanced Excel.
• CPA a plus, not required.

Responsibilities

• Own the monthly, quarterly and year-end close and review the financial statements.
• Produce WIP, job cost and budget-to-actual reporting for leadership.
• Lead and develop a team of three across AP, AR and staff accounting.
• Oversee weekly and monthly vendor payment cycles, treasury and cash planning.
• Strengthen controls and processes and support a systems migration.
• Coordinate audit, tax, banking and insurance reporting.
