Job summary

RGP is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the College’s accounting and financial operations. This hands-on leadership role requires strong higher education accounting experience and demonstrated expertise with Ellucian Banner.

You will oversee day-to-day accounting, ensure GAAP compliance, coordinate audits, and prepare financial reports. You’ll partner with the CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives while developing the finance team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 7+ years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience.
• Hands-on experience with Ellucian Banner required.
• Higher education accounting and nonprofit accounting experience preferred.
• Strong GAAP knowledge, financial reporting, internal controls and compliance.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting and Business Office operations.
• Evaluate and improve AP, procurement, student receivables, and cash receipts processes.
• Assess team structure and develop training programs.
• Establish accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls per GAAP.
• Coordinate annual external audit and prepare financial statements and schedules.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports, forecasts and analyses.
• Monitor cash flow, banking activities, debt, lines of credit, and bond covenants.
• Oversee endowment accounting, donor reporting, and grant/contract accounting.
• Coordinate tax and regulatory filings (Forms 990, 990-T, W-3, 1098, 1099s).
• Identify financial risks and propose asset protections.
• Present results and recommendations to senior leadership and Board committees.
• Partner with CFO on budgeting, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
• Utilize Ellucian Banner to support accounting operations and reporting.
