Job summary

Orion Solutions Group is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial reporting activities in Ann Arbor, MI. The role involves hands-on leadership, ensuring the integrity of financial information, internal controls, and day-to-day accounting operations.

You will oversee the close processes, financial statements, budgeting, variance analysis, and internal controls while collaborating with senior leadership to support strategic business decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Prior experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar accounting leadership role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Experience managing the monthly close and preparing financial statements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to operate effectively in a hands-on environment.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Experience supervising or developing accounting staff.
• CPA and/or public accounting experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly and annual financial close processes
• Prepare and review financial statements and management reporting
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure accuracy of financial records
• Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other accounting activities
• Manage budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
• Maintain and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
• Coordinate annual audit and tax-related activities with outside providers
• Manage and develop accounting staff
• Monitor cash flow and working capital
• Partner with leadership on financial analysis and business decisions
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and efficiency
• Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements
