Job summary

Resources Global Professionals is seeking an experienced Accounting Controller in Detroit to lead the accounting function, manage month-end closes, and ensure GAAP-compliant financial reporting. The role emphasizes internal controls, cross-functional collaboration, and staff development in a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate has CPA designation, 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, and strong ERP/Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience with leadership or supervisory responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting best practices.
• Experience managing month-end close, audits, and compliance requirements.
• Proven ability to lead accounting teams and develop staff.
• Advanced proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the accounting function including general ledger, AP, AR, fixed assets, payroll accounting, and financial reporting.
• Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes for timely, accurate results.
• Prepare and review financial statements in line with U.S. GAAP and company policies.
• Develop and maintain internal controls and accounting procedures.
• Oversee reconciliations, journal entries, variance analyses and balance sheet integrity.
• Partner with Finance leadership on budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and planning.
• Coordinate external audits, tax filings, and regulatory compliance requirements.
• Provide technical accounting guidance for complex transactions and new initiatives.
• Improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting capabilities for efficiency and scalability.
• Mentor and lead a high-performing accounting team.
