Job summary

Associated Students at San Diego State University seeks a Contracts & Procurement Assistant Director to lead the purchasing of goods and services for a large student-led organization. You will manage purchase orders, RFPs, awards, and contract reviews, ensuring value and compliance.

The role requires a four-year degree and at least four years of contract/procurement leadership experience, preferably in higher education.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in a related field is required.
• Minimum of four years’ experience overseeing contracting and procurement.
• Higher education experience is preferred.
• trainings such as Anti-Harassment, Workplace Violence Prevention, Data Security & Privacy, and Gender Awareness must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Oversee advertising, supplier inquiries, bid walks, bid/proposal receipt, coordination of evaluation processes and contracts.
• Negotiate contract amendments, extensions and changes; ensure compliance with terms and grant requirements.
• Supervise staff and provide mentorship to procurement personnel.
• Review calculations and provide total cost of ownership projections.
• Develop procurement policies and maintain online purchasing platforms.
• Coordinate requirements with departments and assess value options.
• Maintain contract files and ensure insurance certificates are current.
