Job summary

Associated Students, San Diego State University is seeking a Contracts & Procurement Assistant Director to coordinate purchasing for a complex student-led organization, overseeing PO, RFP, award and contract review processes.

Under the Finance Director, this role ensures compliance with contracts and grants, performs cost analyses, policies, and vendor management, while mentoring staff and developing cost-saving procurement strategies.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree required.
• Minimum four years of experience overseeing contracting and procurement.
• Experience in Higher Education environment preferred.
• Trainings listed below must be completed within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate advertising, supplier inquiries, bid/proposal receipt and evaluations.
• Negotiate amendments, extensions and change orders; ensure contract compliance.
• Provide direction, mentorship, and development opportunities to staff.
• Review calculations for total cost of ownership and support policy development.
• Develop procurement policies, delegations of authority, and online purchasing.
• Coordinate requirements, specifications, quantity, quality and delivery.
