Job summary

Software Placement Group seeks an experienced CFO to lead financial operations for a growing commercial construction company in Topeka, KS. This hands-on role reports to ownership and focuses on strengthening financial processes, risk management, and strategic decision-making to support scalable growth.

The candidate will manage accounting, cost forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow while partnering with project managers to optimize margins and project profitability.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting or financial leadership experience in the construction industry.
• Experience with project forecasting, cost-to-complete reporting, change orders, retainage, subcontractor commitments, billing, and collections.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions.
• Oversee project forecasting, cost-to-complete projections, gross margins, and project profitability.
• Partner with Project Managers to identify financial risks, cost overruns, and margin issues.
• Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Monitor working capital, billing, collections, retainage, and overall liquidity.
• Maintain banking, bonding, insurance, CPA, and other external financial relationships.
• Lead and develop the accounting team.
• Provide ownership with timely financial analysis, reporting, and strategic recommendations.
• Help improve and integrate the company's financial and construction technology systems, including Vista by Viewpoint and Procore
