Job summary

My Client, a growing commercial construction company, seeks a CFO to lead accounting and financial strategy in a hybrid Topeka-area role. You will oversee accounting, project financials, and risk management in close partnership with ownership and operations.

You will drive budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow while collaborating with project managers to improve project profitability and financial visibility across the organization.

Qualifications

• This is a hands-on leadership role overseeing accounting and financial reporting in a construction environment.
• 8+ years of progressive accounting or financial leadership experience in construction.
• Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP, and percentage-of-completion accounting.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
• Experience with banks, sureties, insurance providers, and outside CPA firms.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions.
• Manage construction accounting, job costing, WIP, and POC reporting.
• Oversee project forecasting, cost-to-complete projections, margins, and profitability.
• Partner with project managers to identify financial risks and margin issues.
• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
• Monitor working capital, billing, collections, and liquidity.
• Maintain banking, bonding, insurance, CPA relationships.
• Lead and develop the accounting team.
• Provide ownership with timely financial analysis and strategic recommendations.
• Help improve and integrate financial and construction technology systems.
