Job summary

American Geophysical Union is seeking a Community Building and Engagement Lead for a full-time, term-limited role funded by a one-year grant. This remote-friendly position supports volunteer engagement, stakeholder collaboration, and community infrastructure across SAI initiatives.

The role emphasizes relationship-building, program design, and developing scalable engagement systems while aligning with AGU’s mission and values, with a salary range of $75k–$125k annually.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in community engagement or volunteer management.
• Experience designing stakeholder engagement processes.
• Experience building volunteer or participant programs.
• Experience developing community communications including newsletters.

Responsibilities

• Lead recruitment and selection of volunteer participants across SAI programs.
• Develop and manage a volunteer talent pipeline and database.
• Build, engage, and retain the contributor community.
• Coordinate stakeholder engagement across the assessment lifecycle.
• Support assessment leadership by coordinating outreach and assembling expert author teams.
• Lead external engagement and communications activities to strengthen visibility.
• Develop and improve engagement systems, processes, and reporting.
• Perform other duties within the scope of the role.
