Job summary

The City of Harrisburg is seeking a Budget Manager in the Department of Budget and Finance to manage the Office of Budget and Analysis, overseeing revenues, expenditures, and special projects.

This leadership role requires thorough knowledge of municipal budgeting, strong analytical and communication skills, and the ability to advise the Mayor and department directors. Office hours are standard with potential evening commitments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, or related field.
• 2–3 years of progressive budget administration experience.
• Experience in government or non-profit settings preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and monitor the City budget and mid-year reports.
• Review purchase orders and verify funds availability.
• Advise on policy through budget analyses and recommendations.
• Assist with CAFR preparation and contracts as needed.
• Maintain timely budget information for upper management.
