Job summary

The City of Annapolis seeks a highly analytical, strategic Budget Manager to lead the Budget Office, guiding municipal budgeting, forecasting, policy development, and financial analyses. This role directs the Business Intelligence Office, coordinates cross-departmental fiscal activities, and serves as a spokesperson for budget matters at public meetings and with City Council.

Ideal candidates have public sector budgeting experience, strong data governance skills, and proven leadership to mentor

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, public management, economics or related field
• At least four years of budgetary experience in a public/government setting
• Three years in a formal supervisory capacity
• Equivalent combination of education and experience considered

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the city-wide operating and capital budgets, set procedures and timelines
• Direct budgeting, forecasting, and cost/benefit analyses with variance monitoring
• Oversee the Budget Office and Business Intelligence Office; provide Workday support
• Lead staff performance reviews and provide guidance on complex analyses
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable municipal policies and regulations
• Present budget information to City Council and at public meetings
