Job summary

The City of Stockbridge, GA, is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead the Accounting Division within the Department of Finance. This full-time exempt role manages financial reporting, general ledger activities, reconciliations, AP/AR, fixed assets, budgeting, and audit prep under the City Treasurer.

Requires a bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting and at least five years of progressive supervisory experience in municipal accounting.

Qualifications

Knowledge of GAAP, GASB, and governmental financial laws and regulations.
Ability to prepare, review, and interpret financial statements, budgets, and audit docs.
Experience supervising accounting, payroll, and AP staff.
Proficiency in accounting software and general ledger systems.
Ability to identify discrepancies and implement effective solutions.
Strong communication, organization, and ability to maintain confidential records.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger, cash management, AP and AR.
Ensure timely month- and year-end closings and financial reporting.
Supervise AP, Payroll, and Accounting staff to maintain accuracy and compliance.
Oversee reconciliations, journal entries, fixed assets, and internal controls.
Coordinate audits and ensure CAFR preparation and GAAP/GASB compliance.
Monitor operating budgets and advise on accounting policies.
