Job summary

The City of Atlanta seeks an Accounting Manager I to lead an accounting group and oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of accounting systems in line with GAAP.

You will design procedures, manage journal entries, GL, AR/AP, and revenue reconciliation, and participate in audits while mentoring staff and coordinating with internal departments to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Five years of professional experience.
• Two years in leadership or management role.

Responsibilities

• Manages an accounting group overseeing development/maintenance of accounting systems (journal entries, GL, AR, AP, revenue reconciliation, cash flows).
• Designs procedures that meet audit standards and improve efficiency.
• Ensures data integrity and accurate reporting of accounting data and revenue.
• Participates in annual audits and collaborates with external auditors.
• Manages day-to-day operations of the accounting function.
• Prepares budgets, forecasts and reporting systems.
• Develops organizational structure and mentors staff.
• Implements internal policies and processes; allocates resources.
