J. Morrissey & Company in Hartford, CT seeks a hands-on Chief Financial Officer to lead treasury, cash flow forecasting, and strategic finance decisions.

You will partner with ownership and guide long-term planning while strengthening banking relationships and evaluating the company’s footprint. The role oversees accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and ERP optimization (Acumatica) to improve data visibility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
• Proven treasury and cash management expertise
• Experience with retail/inventory-driven businesses preferred
• Strong communicator with ownership and external bankers
• Hands-on, pragmatic leader capable of balancing strategy and execution

Responsibilities

• Own treasury and cash flow management, including weekly forecasting and working capital strategy
• Strengthen banking and lender relationships and manage line of credit
• Lead cost/benefit analyses and advise on major strategic decisions
• Oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting and close processes
• Improve inventory management and purchasing discipline to align with demand
• Negotiate supplier terms and build vendor scorecards and KPIs
• Develop SOPs, KPIs and management reporting where needed
• Maximize ERP usage (Acumatica) for efficiency and visibility
• Oversee payroll, benefits, insurance and IT coordination
• Collaborate with outside advisors on tax, compliance and entity matters
• Grow and mentor a very small accounting team
