Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Washington seeks a Chief Financial Officer to partner with the CEO and lead the finance function across the association. The role emphasizes strategic financial leadership, risk management, and sustainable growth to advance the Y’s mission and community impact.

Ideal candidates bring a decade of senior financial leadership in nonprofits, CPA preferred, and a strong record in budgeting, forecasting, internal controls, and data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience.
• Nonprofit finance experience, preferably with YMCA multisite operations.

Responsibilities

• Partner with CEO to inform strategic initiatives and capital planning.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and compliance.
• Modernize financial systems and reporting; ensure internal controls.
• Provide financial insights to drive growth, reserves, and debt management.
• Collaborate with development and operations to support fundraising and program impact.
