Job summary

YMCA of the USA seeks a Director of Finance to provide strategic leadership over finance, IT and business operations. You will oversee budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and business office operations while delivering financial insights to the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board.

The role requires a strong background in GAAP, nonprofit finance, and staff development, with advanced Excel skills and experience with Paylocity or Daxko preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field; CPA/CMA/MBA preferred but not required.
• Five+ years progressively responsible experience in accounting or financial management.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, audit preparation, and risk management.
• Strategic financial partner to executive leadership, providing analysis and actionable insights.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and develop staff and promote accountability.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting systems; experience with Paylocity and/or Daxko preferred.
• Understanding nonprofit financial management, fund accounting, grant reporting, and regulatory compliance.
• Ability to collaborate with external financial advisors, auditors, and banking partners.
• Commitment to ethical leadership, transparency, confidentiality, accountability, and stewardship

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and business office operations.
• Provide financial insight to the Executive Director, Finance Committee, and Board.
• Lead strategic financial planning and risk management for the organization.
• Develop and mentor staff; promote accountability and staff capability.
• Collaborate with external auditors, banking partners, and service providers.
