Job summary

Vizient, Inc. is seeking a Category Management Director to lead strategic category portfolios and act as a trusted advisor to clients. You will guide complex sourcing, value analysis, and cross‑functional teams to deliver measurable financial and operational value for members.

You will influence executives, clinicians, and suppliers through advanced analytics, negotiation mastery, and responsible AI use to achieve value realization and sustained improvements.

Qualifications

• Relevant degree preferred.
• 7+ years of experience in category management, strategic sourcing, supply chain, consulting, healthcare operations, contracting, or related field.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex sourcing and category management initiatives.
• Proven ability to influence executive, clinical, operational, and supplier stakeholders.
• Experience facilitating stakeholder committees or cross-functional decision-making groups.
• Strong negotiation and contracting experience with complex supplier agreements.
• Advanced analytical skills with the ability to translate data into strategic recommendations.
• Excellent executive communication and relationship management skills.
• Demonstrates knowledge of AI tools and applies AI effectively in business situations.

Responsibilities

• Develop and lead comprehensive category strategies aligned with client priorities and objectives.
• Serve as primary category expert for stakeholders across sourcing, contracting, and value analysis initiatives.
• Identify category opportunities through spend, utilization, supplier performance, market conditions, and member priorities.
• Lead end-to-end sourcing initiatives including RFI/RFP, negotiations, contracting, and implementation.
• Provide guidance on complex contracting strategies and negotiations.
• Lead stakeholder committees and present category strategies and outcomes to executives.
• Monitor supplier performance and market developments to ensure ongoing category effectiveness.
• Apply AI fluency to enhance strategy development, market intelligence, and decision-making.
