Mowery & Schoenfeld LLC is seeking a CAS Manager to join its Construction & Real Estate advisory practice. This role partners with privately held construction and real estate clients to enhance accounting processes, reporting, and decision-making.

The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of related accounting experience, strong knowledge of US GAAP, and familiarity with industry software like QuickBooks, Sage, and Yardi. Leadership and client-service skills are essential as the team scales.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting or private industry.
• Experience with construction accounting, real estate accounting, property accounting, or project-based accounting.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and accrual-based financial reporting.
• Experience with industry platforms such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Yardi.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary day-to-day advisor for construction and real estate clients, helping management teams improve accounting processes, reporting, and decision-making.
• Review and oversee monthly financial reporting packages.
• Advise clients on construction accounting matters, including WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion concepts, job cost reporting, and project profitability.
• Advise real estate clients on property accounting matters.
• Develop reporting tools that provide clearer insight into project and property performance, working capital, cash flow, and profitability.
• Translate technical accounting issues into clear, practical recommendations for owners and non-accounting stakeholders.
• Manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
• Lead client onboarding, assessments, month-end close design, workflow development, and implementation of repeatable reporting processes.
• Own engagement timelines, budgets, deliverables, review processes, and client communication.
• Identify gaps and recommend improvements to increase accuracy and scalability.
• Coordinate with tax, assurance, and other teams to deliver integrated services.
• Identify opportunities to expand client relationships through advisory and technology-related services.
