Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking a Transportation Specialist to drive the carrier program, secure reliable capacity, and minimize costs through an optimal carrier mix. The role focuses on supplier governance, performance monitoring, and cost-efficient transportation strategies.

You will establish partnerships, lead RFPs, and collaborate with Transportation Management and Analysts to optimize service, coverage, and budgeting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• Three to five years of transportation work experience.
• Previous corporate office experience.
• Strong organizational and problem solving skills.
• Detail oriented and able to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Establish strong carrier partnerships and hold carriers accountable for service and contracts.
• Monitor performance metrics and drive corrective actions to improve results.
• Onboard carriers offering value through service, capacity, or cost advantages.
• Execute transportation RFPs to obtain the lowest cost while balancing service.
• Collaborate with Transportation Management and Analysts to strengthen partnerships and reporting.
