Job summary

Thatcher Company is seeking a Buyer/Planner to manage inventory, schedule and plan production, and purchase materials for their Buckeye, AZ site. The role reports to the Director of Planning and Inventory, with daily accountability to the site plant manager.

Major duties include material planning, finished goods scheduling, vendor negotiation, and ensuring on-time delivery. Strong ERP, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• Prior ERP experience required.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• High School Diploma (GED).

Responsibilities

• Materials resource planning: stocking materials to meet demand and keep optimal inventory levels.
• Finished goods order planning: schedule production to meet due dates.
• Finished goods stock planning: maintain stock levels for selling products.
• Create Manufacturing Orders and issue lab and safety documents.
• Process ERP batch transactions.
• Inventory analysis and root cause analysis for variances.
• Institute corrections after root cause validation.
• Cross-functional collaboration.
• After-hours phone support for emergencies.
• Recommend and implement process improvements.
• Source, negotiate, and select vendors meeting quality, price, and delivery requirements.
• Maintain relationships with vendors and suppliers.
• Obtain and store COA, BOL, TDS, SDS, and other documents.
• Ensure timely delivery and follow up on late orders.
