Job summary

Moog Space and Defense Group in Johnson City, Tennessee, is seeking a Buyer/Planner to join the Site Manager’s team. The role requires sourcing, negotiating with suppliers, and managing material availability on site.

You will analyze market trends, maintain supplier relationships, review MRP requirements, and ensure cost-effectiveness while meeting operational needs. Requires a bachelor’s or equivalent with procurement experience; on-site work schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 5 years of procurement/supply chain experience or an associate’s degree with 9 years of procurement/supply chain experience or high school diploma/equivalent with 13 years of related experience.
• Proven experience in planning, procurement, or inventory management in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills
• Analytical mindset with an ability to interpret data and market trends
• Familiarity with procurement software or ERP systems

Responsibilities

• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best pricing and terms
• Analyze market trends to make data-driven purchasing decisions
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure inventory meets operational needs
• Maintain strong supplier relationships and oversee contract management
• Ensure cost-effectiveness and quality in all purchasing activities
• Review MRP requirements and inventory on hand balances to ensure material availability using ERP systems
• Review and understand blueprints, material specifications and engineering specifications
• Log & Manage Sales Purchase Orders and LRP inventories
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned to support business operations
