Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Buyer III to lead strategic sourcing and manage high-value procurement contracts within our Randburg, Gauteng office. You will drive cost savings, supplier performance, and risk mitigation through market analysis and negotiation.

You will collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and finance teams, oversee procurement cycles, mentor junior buyers, and help deliver supply chain resilience in a dynamic industrial environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in purchasing and procurement, with a strong focus on strategic sourcing and contract negotiation.
• Demonstrated success in managing large-scale procurement projects and supplier portfolios.
• Expertise in negotiation, financial analysis, and contract law relevant to procurement.
• Advanced proficiency in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strategic thinker with strong problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a hybrid work model.
• Experience in the industrial manufacturing sector is highly preferred.
• Must be able to work from the Randburg, Gauteng office on designated days.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic sourcing efforts for assigned categories of goods and services in Randburg.
• Develop and execute negotiation strategies to secure the best possible pricing and terms.
• Manage and develop relationships with key suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and innovation.
• Conduct in-depth market analysis and competitive benchmarking.
• Oversee the entire procurement cycle for significant contracts, ensuring compliance and risk mitigation.
• Collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and finance departments.
• Identify and implement cost reduction initiatives and process improvements.
• Monitor supplier performance and conduct regular reviews.
• Prepare detailed reports on procurement activities, savings achieved, and market intelligence.
• Mentor junior members of the purchasing team.
