Job summary

Pregis is seeking a Buyer to source, negotiate, and purchase direct materials, components, and MRO supplies to support production schedules. You will partner with Operations, Planning, Engineering, and Quality to ensure on-time availability while optimizing inventory and working capital.

You will manage supplier performance, mitigate risks, and drive cost improvements through PPV, lead times, and price negotiations. Experience with MRP/ERP systems and quality processes is required.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years in a manufacturing purchasing role with direct materials/MRO experience
• Experience with MRP/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Infor)
• Familiarity with quality tools and manufacturing workflows (BOMs, routings, drawings/specs, PPAP/FAI, ECNs)
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent purchasing experience; APICS/ISM certifications a plus

Responsibilities

• Analyze and convert MRP/ERP demand into purchase orders; maintain dates, quantities, and pricing
• Execute sourcing events (RFQ/RFI/RFP) and negotiate pricing, lead times, terms
• Manage supplier performance: OTIF, lead times, quality issues; drive corrective actions and scorecards
• Collaborate with Production Planning/Operations to resolve shortages and balance service levels with inventory targets
• Partner with Engineering and Quality on part qualifications, ECNs, PPAP/FAI needs; ensure supplier compliance
• Mitigate supply risks and develop dual-source strategies where practical
• Maintain clean ERP data and support cycle-count/inventory accuracy
• Support annual cost-reduction and value-engineering initiatives; track PPV savings
