Job summary

Oregon State University (OSU) seeks an innovative Assistant Vice President & Chief Budget Officer to unify Budget and Resource Planning with Financial Strategic Services. The role will modernize university budgeting, strategic financial planning, and data analytics to support OSU’s growth objectives.

Reporting to the Deputy CFO, with a dotted-line to the Provost, the CBO will lead about 50 finance professionals, drive long-range modeling, and partner with colleges to align resources with

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, business or related field; 8+ years of budgeting and financial planning leadership.
• Strong ability to analyze complex finances and present to diverse stakeholders.
• Experience leading teams through organizational change.

Responsibilities

• Lead long-range financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario analysis.
• Partner with academic and administrative leaders to align resources with priorities.
• Champion OSU's Strategic Resource Renewal initiative.
• Oversee budget presentations to the Higher Education Coordinating Commission and the Board of Trustees.
• Chair the University Budget Committee.
• Advance data analytics, dashboards, and Workday-enabled reporting.
• Build, mentor, and unify a high-performing budget team through change.
