Job summary

NewSchools Venture Fund is seeking a Manager, Budget and Reporting to lead budgeting, financial reporting, procurement, and due diligence across our education-focused portfolio. This fully remote role across the United States reports to the Director of Finance and requires up to 10% travel.

You will own annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, variance analyses, and partner with investment, development, and program teams to integrate funding proposals into the organizational plan.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, or financial management.
• Strong financial modeling and Excel/Google Sheets skills.
• Experience translating financial data into narratives for non-financial stakeholders.
• Experience performing financial due diligence on grants, investments, or loans preferred.
• Understanding nonprofit accounting (GAAP) and 501(c)(3) compliance preferred.
• Travel up to 10% for in-person meetings.

Responsibilities

• Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
• Maintain rolling cash flow forecasts and financial models.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly budget vs. actual analyses.
• Support Development with financial reporting and funding proposals.
• Streamline budgeting and reporting with automated tools.
• Oversee contracts, procurement, and payments workflows.
