Job summary

NewSchools Venture Fund is hiring a Data Analyst to own data stewardship, quality, and analytics within Operations for a designated investment team. The role is fully remote within the United States, with up to 10% travel for in-person meetings and conferences.

You will partner with the Data Manager and investment leads to ensure accurate data, develop metrics definitions, and deliver data-driven insights to inform grantmaking and portfolio strategy.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience working with complex data sets and end-to-end data processes
• Proficiency in SQL and cloud data warehouse platforms (BigQuery preferred)
• Experience with BI/analytics tools and building self-service artifacts for non-technical users
• Experience with data validation, quality control, and data cleaning
• Project management experience coordinating multiple stakeholders
• Comfort using AI-assisted analytics for ad hoc analyses
• Knowledge of K-12 education data is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Own the data and metrics for a designated investment team, translating goals into definitions and data structures
• Develop and maintain data collection, validation, and governance processes to ensure data integrity
• Lead analytics to support decision-making, synthesize findings, and respond to reporting requests
• Perform ad hoc analyses and rapid prototyping using SQL and BI tools
• Collaborate with teams on custom queries and datasets supporting the learning agenda and reporting
• Create planning tools and visualizations to highlight portfolio insights and comparison across data sources
• Serve as a data resource for non-technical colleagues and promote self-service analytics adoption
