Job summary

City of New York’s Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS) seeks a Senior Advisor in the Fiscal and Business Management (FBM) Line of Service to provide complex data analysis, policy insight, and budget management support for expense, revenue, and capital budgets.

The role reports to the Deputy Commissioner of FBM and involves reviewing PS and OTPS budgets, preparing spending projections, and developing efficiency recommendations to optimize city resources.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required in a relevant field as listed in the education requirement.
• Two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal/economic research.

Responsibilities

• Support the annual budget process with detailed analysis and forecasting of agency expenditures.
• Coordinate with DCAS Lines of Service to project expenses and identify areas for operational review.
• Develop analyses to support new needs requests to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
• Coordinate responses to internal and external budget requests and provide ad hoc analyses as needed.

Education

Master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, public health, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a Juris Doctor degree
