Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking an Office of Management and Budget Director to lead the preparation, revision, and presentation of the City’s Operating Budget and Five-Year Capital Improvement Plan. You will supervise professional staff, coordinate budgeting processes, and report to the City Manager on budgetary and policy matters.

This role requires a Master’s degree in public administration and at least seven years of management experience in government, plus a valid driver license.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in public administration, business administration, economics, finance, or related field.
• Seven years of progressively responsible management and supervisory experience in government administration.
• Valid driver license required within 30 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Plan, manage and coordinate the preparation and implementation of the operating and capital budgets.
• Direct and coordinate professional staff in budgetary, financial and policy analysis work.
• Oversee city-wide operating and capital budget preparation and monitoring.
• Update Five-Year Revenue/Expense Forecasts and financial plans.
• Lead performance improvement initiatives and strategic planning efforts.
