Job summary

County of San Benito is seeking a Chief Budget Officer to plan, coordinate, and manage the County’s budget process and financial forecasting. You will provide executive-level oversight, develop policies, and supervise staff within the County Executive Office.

The role demands independence, expert analytical ability, and the capacity to present complex fiscal concepts to the Board of Supervisors. CGFM desirable; CA driver’s license required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• Five years of budget process experience in a California county or complex public agency, with supervisory responsibility.
• Ability to interpret complex budget laws, regulations, and policies.

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates the Countywide budget process, including policies, timelines, and production.
• Oversees development of the Recommended Budget and long-term forecast with analyses of revenues and expenditures.
• Explains fiscal issues to the County Executive Officer and Board of Supervisors and coordinates budget hearings.
