Job summary

County of San Benito is seeking a professional financial analyst to perform complex fiscal and financial analysis in support of County programs. Under direction, you will analyze budgets, grants, contracts, and operations, maintain fiscal controls, and prepare reports and recommendations for decision-making.

The role emphasizes public sector accounting knowledge, multi-year cash flow forecasting, and interpretation of laws and policies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration or related field.
• Three (3) years of professional-level experience in financial analysis, accounting, budgeting, or related fiscal field, including public sector experience.
• Ability to qualify for security clearance and possession of a CA driver license.
• Knowledge of governmental accounting, budget development, internal controls, and grant administration.
• Ability to work under the Chief Budget Officer and Executive Office.

Responsibilities

• Participates in budget development, monitoring, and financial projections.
• Reviews accounting records, reconciles accounts, prepares journal entries and reports.
• Monitors grant funds, ensures compliance, prepares claims and status reports.
• Analyzes legislation, contracts, programs to determine fiscal impacts.
• Provides technical direction and may supervise staff.
• Prepares reports for Board of Supervisors and supports audits.
