Job summary

Ryan Specialty in Atlanta is seeking a Binding Authority Renewal Underwriter to join our Commercial Binding Authority team. You will underwrite and manage a renewal portfolio with profitability and retention in mind, analyze submissions, conduct risk evaluations, and apply binding authority guidelines in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

You will build strong agency and broker relationships across the Southeast, coordinate quoting, binding, and endorsements, and provide underwriting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.
• 1+ years of experience in commercial insurance including Binding Authority underwriting, wholesale brokerage, or carrier underwriting environments.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; comfortable with virtual or in-person meetings.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite and manage a portfolio of Commercial Binding Authority renewal business with a focus on profitability, retention, and long-term growth.
• Analyze submissions, loss history, exposures, account performance, and underwriting data to evaluate risk acceptability.
• Review coverage needs, pricing adequacy, and underwriting characteristics in accordance with carrier and binding authority guidelines.
• Coordinate the quoting, binding, issuance, endorsement, and renewal processes.
• Monitor portfolio performance and identify trends impacting profitability, retention, and underwriting results.
• Develop renewal strategies that support account retention while maintaining underwriting discipline.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with retail agents, brokers, carrier partners, and key production sources in the Southeast.
