Job summary

Natural Alternatives International, Inc. is seeking a Benefits and Compliance Specialist to perform HR duties, including benefits administration, policy implementation and payroll/benefit reconciliation.

The role collaborates with senior management to ensure employment law compliance and efficient HR operations. Responsibilities include open enrollment coordination, leave management (FMLA/PDL), 401(k) and workers’ comp audits, ACA data review in ADP, and generation of regulatory reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Human Resources or related field.
• 5-7 years of progressive HR experience with emphasis on federal and state reporting and benefit administration.
• Experience with ADP preferred.
• Understanding of federal and state employment law, benefits, and compliance regulations.
• Experience administering employee benefit plans with integrated payroll/benefit carrier connections and 401(k) plan administration.
• Working knowledge of workers compensation (including audits).
• Experience with payroll reconciliation and accruals.
• SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish a plus.

Responsibilities

• Administers HR plans and procedures for all personnel and helps develop policies.
• Manages benefits administration, processes invoices, and handles carrier inquiries.
• Coordinates annual benefits open enrollment, system updates, payroll changes, and carrier information requests.
• Oversees leaves of absence including FMLA, CRFA and PDL.
• Prepares leave of absence letters and explains the process to employees.
• Acts as point of contact for 401(k) audits and reconciles payroll with Fidelity reports.
• Acts as point of contact for workers’ compensation audits and provides requested reports.
• Prepares monthly benefit allocations, PTO, floating holiday, and accruals for accounting entry in the ERP system.
• Reviews ACA data in ADP and ensures 1094-C/1095s are complete.
• Prepares and files EEO-1, Pay Data Reporting and other statutory/ad-hoc reports.
• Investigates employee issues with management to resolve concerns.
• Maintains HR information records and compiles ADP reports.
• Evaluates HR processes and recommends improvements.
• Maintains compliance with federal and state employment laws.
• Maintains confidentiality and openness to new ideas.
• Performs other related duties as required and assists with recognition activities.
• Works with Safety on workers’ compensation coverage and related leaves.
