Job summary

First Horizon Bank based in Memphis seeks an Accounting Policy Senior to drive the implementation of new accounting standards and evaluate effects on businesses and procedures. You will document adoptions, develop disclosures, and support management with technical accounting guidance and transaction analyses.

The role requires deep U.S. GAAP expertise, strong communication skills, and experience in financial services.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
• Strong technical accounting skills.
• Ability to research accounting guidance (ASC, Y9C, SAB 108).
• Ability to translate technical accounting requirements into guidance for transactions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to understand business economics and related accounting processes.
• Prior financial services, audit and internal control experience is desirable.
• Degree in Accounting, CPA preferred.
• 5+ years of related work experience in public accounting or public company corporate accounting department.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of new accounting standards and evaluate effects on existing businesses and processes.
• Document adoption of accounting standards and prepare disclosures for pending standards.
• Develop accounting guidance and documentation for new business strategies and proposed transactions.
• Develop management presentations on impacts of technical accounting issues and new standards.
• Review financial statements and transaction support to ensure compliance with accounting guidance.
