Butler Machinery seeks an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting team and support financial operations for a multi-location, family-owned business. You will oversee month-end close, GAAP reporting, internal controls, and process improvements while developing a high-performing team and partnering with leaders across the organization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
• Experience leading or mentoring accounting professionals.
• Advanced analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop a team of accountants.
• Manage daily accounting operations, including general ledger activities, account reconciliations, fixed assets, sales and use tax, and personal property tax.
• Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
• Monitor changes in accounting standards, tax regulations, and reporting requirements and assess organizational impact.
• Partner with leaders across the organization to improve financial and operational processes.
• Utilize accounting and business systems to drive efficiency and support evolving business needs.
• Provide financial analysis and guidance to management to support informed business decisions.
• Coordinate audit and tax preparation activities and serve as a key contact for external auditors.
• Support ongoing department and organizational initiatives as needed.
• Works within and promotes vision, mission and values of Butler Machinery.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
