Job summary

Confidential is seeking an Accounting Manager in Birmingham, AL to lead a small accounting team and own key close areas, including fixed assets and policy reviews. In this player-coach role, you will prepare entries, uphold audit-ready standards, and drive faster, more controlled close cycles.

You'll partner with FP&A, Operations, and business leaders, participate in hiring, and help expand the team's scope while maintaining rigorous controls and accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or equivalent.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including public accounting or professional services.
• 3+ years of leadership experience managing accountants.
• Experience with US GAAP and technical accounting rulings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop 1–2 team members, defining close ownership and delivering audit-ready work.
• Own the monthly close calendar, monitor deadlines, and remove blockers.
• Review journal entries and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Standardize recurring close processes with documented procedures and peer reviews.
• Partner with FP&A, Operations, and leaders to translate results into actionable insights.
• Contribute to hiring and define future team roles.
