Strategic Account Manager - Remote

Position Summary:

  • Seeking a talented and competitive team member who thrives in a fast-paced, complex sales environment with a high drive to excel, with the following qualifications:

Position Responsibilities:

The individual will be responsible for selling food flavorings, ingredients, and solutions from the ADM Nutrition portfolio to customers in North America. The primary focus will be business-to-business sales to customers producing savory and sweet goods, dairy foods, wellness products, and beverages. Responsibilities include building new business, growing sales with existing customers, and maintaining their base year over year.

Work involves close collaboration with customers on product development, cost effectiveness, and quality improvement initiatives to drive business growth. This individual will work closely with ADM cross-functional partners in technical, marketing, financial, food regulation, and business leadership roles.

The account manager will assist in defining the technical support needed to meet customer demands. Projects will be executed through collaboration with the Creative Design & Development team on flavors, colors, and specialty ingredients.

Sales colleagues oversee and manage their customer pipeline and opportunities using CRM systems (Salesforce). They liaise with regulatory and scientific affairs colleagues to ensure solutions meet claim and product positioning requirements.

The incumbent will be responsible for:

  • Sourcing and managing new sales opportunities through inbound lead follow-up and outbound communication, promoting the entire ADM Nutrition portfolio to targeted market segments.
  • Preparing targeted account plans and processes to execute sales leads and develop business.
  • Maintaining constant contact with potential customers to ensure high satisfaction levels.
  • Building rapport with cross-functional teams including CD&D, Regulatory, Customer Service, Procurement, Legal, etc.
  • Customer management including sample/opportunity entry, project management, and lead follow-up.
  • Implementing an aggressive call schedule to increase customer connectivity.
  • Using web-based reporting tools to improve sales effectiveness, maintaining accurate records of quotes, sales, and activity reports.
  • Adhering to all company policies, procedures, and ethics codes.
  • Maintaining thorough product knowledge of all nutrition ingredients.

Job Requirements:

  • An undergraduate degree is required.
  • 5–7 years of account management experience within the flavor/ingredient industry preferred.
  • Ability to build relationships with key customers and cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Experience using CRM systems like Salesforce.com.
  • Strong organization, time management, and negotiation skills.
  • Availability to travel within North America up to 50%.

ADM requires successful completion of a background check.

Pay ranges from $92,800 to $172,800, with additional incentives including annual bonuses and long-term incentives.
