Job summary

Texas A&M University at Galveston seeks a Manager, Academic Business to oversee the Dean’s academic business HUB, managing budgets, purchasing, HR, payroll and travel in the College of Marine Sciences and Maritime Studies. The role includes staff supervision, training, policy interpretation and cross-unit collaboration.

The position reports to the AVP for Finance and Compliance Officer, supporting financial control and planning, and coordinating with the Executive Associate Dean and Library

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in applicable field.
• Five years of related experience in business, accounting or personnel operations including supervisory experience.
• Two years of supervisory experience.
• Experience with university financial and HR systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides supervisory oversight for academic department business personnel within the College.
• Manages budgeting, purchasing, HR, payroll and travel functions.
• Ensures staff training and compliance with policies and procedures.
• Reviews financial reports and develops recommendations for the Dean and CFO as needed.
• Develops long-range business goals and budget planning for the Academic HUB.
