Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in education, social or behavioral science, or related field.
• Two years of professional experience supporting students in education or advising.
• Experience developing or maintaining degree, certification, or course-sequencing plans.
• Experience monitoring progress and maintaining confidential student records in relevant systems.
• Ability to interpret requirements within established policies and apply them to advising.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive, comprehensive academic advising through appointments, group sessions, and virtual meetings.
• Develop individualized academic plans aligning degree and certification requirements with graduation timelines.
• Monitor progress, enrollment, and milestones to identify students off track.
• Explain program pathways, schedules, and resources to admitted and continuing students.
• Apply program requirements and route exceptions to authorized faculty or program authority.
• Identify students facing barriers and coordinate referrals to university or community resources.
• Provide student success coaching while distinguishing advising from counseling services.
• Respond to inquiries with timely follow-up while protecting FERPA and records requirements.
• Coordinate orientations, information sessions, recruitment events, and other student-engagement activities.
