Job summary

City of Chestermere is seeking a Stormwater Operator to assist with upkeep, maintenance, and tracking of the city’s storm infrastructure. The role includes operating vehicles and equipment, performing heavy manual tasks, and ensuring a safe work environment.

Responsibilities include completing required paperwork, participating in safety inspections, and assisting in utilities maintenance and repair. Requires Grade 12 or GED and relevant certifications; union CUPE Local 5592 supports the position.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or GED preferred.
• Valid Class 3 Alberta Driver’s License and Drive’s Abstract deemed satisfactory by the city.
• Criminal Record Check deemed satisfactory by the city.
• Water or wastewater operator certification, or enrolment toward one.
• First Aid CPR C and AED certification would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Operates city-owned vehicles and equipment safely.
• Performs heavy manual labour such as lifting and shoveling.
• Assists in installation, maintenance, operation and repair of utilities.
• Completes paperwork and forms related to tasks.
• Maintains safety and environmental inspections and audits.
• Protects confidential information and ensures security of city data.
• Conducts daily pre-trips and equipment checklists.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
