Job summary

The Fayette Chamber of Commerce seeks a Maintenance Worker to support the city’s stormwater drainage system. You will inspect, clean, and perform minor repairs to drains, culverts, and ponds under supervision and with on-the-job training.

Responsibilities include debris removal, erosion control, masonry work, tool operation, and emergency response during severe weather. Must have HS diploma and a valid driver’s license; training provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Prior experience in public works, stormwater, construction, or maintenance-related work.
• Familiarity with erosion control practices or drainage maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assists with inspection, cleaning, installation, and maintenance of storm drains, basins, culverts, ditches, swales, and ponds.
• Removes debris, sediment, vegetation, and obstructions from stormwater structures.
• Assists with minor repairs to stormwater infrastructure including pipes, grates, inlets, headwalls, and outfalls.
• Assists with erosion control and restoration activities such as grading, sodding, seeding, and installation of erosion control measures.
• Assists in masonry work; pours and finishes concrete for curbs and basins.
• Operates hand tools, power tools, and light equipment safely.
• Responds to service requests and assists with emergency stormwater issues during storms.
• Loads, unloads, transports tools and materials to/from sites.
• Performs routine maintenance on tools/equipment and reports repairs.
• Locates underground utilities and assists with traffic control.
