Job summary

City of Sammamish is seeking a professional to support its Stormwater and Surface Water Program. You will plan, coordinate, and analyze stormwater initiatives, ensuring compliance with NPDES Phase II and supporting capital improvements.

You will lead planning studies, engage stakeholders, develop budgets and schedules, and coordinate with city staff and external partners to deliver projects on time and within regulations. The position emphasizes public service and collaborative problem solving.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; 2 years of professional stormwater or surface water planning, NPDES permit coordination, environmental compliance, utility program coordination, or related work.
• Residency in Washington State required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate development, update and implementation of stormwater and surface water plans and related elements of the City’s planning framework.
• Conduct planning studies and analyses addressing water quality, flood reduction, drainage capacity, asset condition, habitat protection or restoration, retrofit opportunities, and long-term system needs.
• Identify grant opportunities; develop applications, budgets, and reporting; manage progress and closeout requirements.
• Prioritize capital and programmatic needs; prepare concepts, costs, schedules, and funding strategies for CIP.
• Manage assigned stormwater projects end-to-end, including scope, schedule, budget, risks, and deliverables.
• Lead consultant selection, contracting, and performance management; coordinate review of plans, permitting, and environmental documentation.
• Communicate project status, risks, and changes; ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and City standards.
• Prepare and deliver briefings, staff reports, and technical information to leadership and community groups.
