Job summary

The position coordinates with city staff, manages spill and illicit discharge programs, and maintains data systems for stormwater assets and reporting.

Qualifications

• Two years of college-level courses in civil or environmental engineering, environmental science, biology, chemistry, water resources, or related field. A bachelor’s degree in science or engineering is desirable.
• Work experience includes stormwater management, NPDES MS4 permit implementation, and related environmental compliance knowledge.
• The work environment involves office and outdoor settings with exposure to weather and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee municipal stormwater permit compliance activities for the City of Shelton.
• Coordinate and perform inspections, recordkeeping, annual reports, and MS4 permit documentation.
• Lead spill reporting program and coordinate enforcement actions with City departments and the public.
• Manage illicit discharge detection and elimination programs and water quality sampling.
• Review development proposals for compliance with City stormwater standards and issue related permits.
• Maintain stormwater utility data and participate in regional stormwater coordination.
