Job summary

City of Redmond seeks a Senior Planner to lead watershed and stormwater planning, guide cross‑disciplinary teams, engage the community, and advance Redmond 2050 and ESAP Water Management goals.

You will manage projects end‑to‑end, ensure regulatory compliance, and communicate complex technical concepts to council, staff, and the public, shaping a resilient, sustainable water future for Redmond.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, urban design and development, or related field.
• Master's degree preferred and 4–6 years of professional experience in planning/environmental analysis.
• Experience managing projects from start to finish and coordinating with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience with regulatory frameworks such as NPDES Phase II and stormwater plans.

Responsibilities

• Define, scope, and manage watershed and stormwater planning projects including prioritization and rehabilitation strategies.
• Draft watershed plans integrating retrofits, habitat restoration, monitoring, and outreach.
• Coordinate teams to implement regional stormwater facilities and low‑impact development.
• Oversee SMAP/SMED program delivery ensuring permit compliance.
• Lead long‑range watershed planning, utility planning, and community engagement.
• Collaborate on SSWSP development and implementation with regional partners.
• Identify and manage stormwater CIP and retrofits; engage communities via meetings and campaigns.
• Provide consultation, scope development, contracts, budgeting, and reporting.
• Communicate complex technical issues through reports, visuals, and presentations to leaders and the public.
• Serve as a technical lead and provide strategic planning for watershed health and regulatory compliance.
• Integrate watershed health and climate resilience into Redmond’s water strategy.
