Job summary

Sarasota County Government is seeking a Pipeline Maintenance & Construction - Skilled Trades Worker II (Stormwater) to maintain, construct, and repair stormwater conveyance and road right of way systems. Work includes operating heavy equipment, leading crew safety, and performing carpentry and concrete tasks to support infrastructure projects.

Expect a 40-hour week, Monday–Friday, with on-call duties and a starting pay of $22.58/hour (Step 1).

Qualifications

High School Diploma or its equivalent.
Three (3) years of experience in the construction, maintenance, and repair of stormwater conveyance systems.
A valid Florida Class "B" Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with tanker endorsement required within six (6) months from the time of hire (Paid by the County!)
A valid Florida Driver License at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

Perform stormwater conveyance system maintenance on canals, lakes, ponds, and ditches.
Restore road right‑of‑ways and properties relating to stormwater maintenance and repairs.
Install and repair pipeline infrastructure and plumbing to ensure proper grade of the conveyance system.
Respond to emergency situations as required.
Lead staff in operations to ensure safety.
Carpenter work to include design, frame or form needed to install and build new infrastructure.
Design, form, and pour concrete for structures, high back curb, Miami curb, etc.
Understanding and experience practicing standard FDOT stormwater installation specifications.
Operate specialized equipment, such as backhoes, excavators, arm mowers, vacuum trucks and other related equipment.
