Job summary

The City of Winfield is seeking a Stormwater Maintenance Worker I to join the Parks and Public Lands team. This role involves maintaining parks and stormwater infrastructure, inspecting systems, and assisting with pollution prevention efforts.

You will operate a variety of equipment, supervise seasonal staff, and ensure compliance with environmental regulations. The position requires readiness for outdoor work and the ability to respond to emergencies when needed.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school.
• Two years of experience in construction and maintenance work.
• Must have or obtain supervisory certification for Department of Corrections personnel within six months of employment.
• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL).

Responsibilities

• Operate mowers, trimmers, and various landscaping equipment.
• Lead seasonal laboring workers and supervise staff as assigned.
• Inspect and maintain storm drains, culverts, and related stormwater infrastructure.
• Install erosion and sediment control measures and BMPs.
• Identify and report illicit discharges or spills and support SWPPP implementation.
• Perform routine inspections of parks, facilities, and construction sites for stormwater compliance.
