Job summary

The City of Winfield is seeking a Stormwater Maintenance Worker I to perform a range of manual labor tasks in parks, lakes, cemeteries, golf courses and stormwater infrastructure. Supervisory duties may include leading seasonal workers and coordinating with supervisors.

Under supervision, duties include inspection, maintenance and BMP implementation for stormwater compliance and environmental protection within city facilities and public areas.

Qualifications

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of high school.
• Two years of construction and maintenance experience.
• Must obtain Department of Corrections supervisory certification within six months of employment.
• Valid commercial driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Operates landscaping equipment such as mowers and trimmers.
• Operates trucks, backhoes, loaders, and other grounds maintenance equipment.
• Lead worker over seasonal laborers and supervise personnel.
• Assist with stormwater pollution prevention and water quality protection activities.
• Inspect, clean, and maintain storm drains and related infrastructure.
• Install and maintain erosion and sediment control measures.
• Identify and report illicit discharges or pollution sources.
• Contribute to SWPPP and municipal stormwater practices.
• Conduct routine inspections of sites for stormwater compliance.
• Apply herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers per regulations.
• Interact with the public to promote City image and address needs.
