Job summary

The City of Tumwater seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician III to serve as a technical subject matter expert on the Stormwater Crew. You will perform advanced maintenance, inspection, and repair of stormwater systems with independence and leadership responsibility.

You will provide mentorship to Technician I and II staff, coordinate field activities, and support safe, efficient project execution. This is an excellent growth opportunity within the City’s Public Works.

Qualifications

• Experience leading field crews on stormwater projects.
• Ability to diagnose and repair complex stormwater systems.
• Mentor junior staff and coordinate tasks in the field.

Responsibilities

• Independently inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair complex stormwater systems.
• Lead response to flooding events and drainage emergencies.
• Guide maintenance crews and coordinate site activities.
• Operate advanced stormwater equipment and manage work zones.
• Ensure documentation and asset records are accurate.
• Support compliance with permits and safety standards.
